and something funnier on the topic of dreams:

He felt that his whole life was some kind of dream and he sometimes wondered whose it was and whether they were enjoying it.

try and look up the poem "The Trap" by Jon Stallworthy I think. It's very very ambiguous.

some searching brought this up

As an artist grows older, he has to fight disillusionment and learn to establish the same relation to nature as an adult as he had when a child. - Charles Burchfield

Youth is the season of tragedy and despair. Youth is the time when one's whole life is entangled in a web of identity, in a perpetual maze of seeking and of finding, of passion and of disillusion, of vague longings and of nameless griefs, of pity that is a blade in the heart, and of "all the little emptiness of love." - Ellen Glasgow

We can destroy ourselves by cynicism and disillusion, just as effectively as by bombs. - Kenneth Clark

Love is the child of illusion and the parent of disillusion. - Miguel de Unamuno

To live in the past or in the future may be less satisfying than to live in the present, but it can never be as disillusioning. - R. D. Laing (1927-1989)

It is dangerous to let the public behind the scenes. They are easily disillusioned and then they are angry with you, for it was the illusion they loved. - William Somerset Maugham

Actually it's one of the only two quotes I remember from Macbeth. I always liked it and it's meaning. Guess we all have to be like that to survuve.....

The other is..." Not all the perfumes of Arabia can wash this blood off my hands...."
